What and How to Trade in PokemonGo

Trading of PokemonGo has been going for sometime. Decided to share some personal experience to some of those who are new or just came back again to PokemonGo.
Trading could be something new and here are some sharing of from my experience to you.

Before trading was introduce, whenever you caught a low IV Pokemon you will likely to trade with Professor for candy.  Now with trading there is a good chance not only you get More Candies and also a chance to get higher IV or a Lucky Pokemon.

So the question would be what and How you need to trade in PokemonGo.

More Candies
When you trade with professor you would get 1 candy of that Pokemon you trade in. Trading with other players may give you more of that candy when the original location of that Pokemon was caught.

Trading will Re-roll the Pokemon you traded
It is true and I learned in a hard way that if you trade a Pokemon, the IV of that Pokemon reached to the other play could be different. There is a chance that it will become lower IV than before trading. The best bet would be getting a high CP Pokemon even though it has a lower IV, when re-roll, the CP is roughly still the same.

The best way to trade is a Pokemon that CP is higher than 75% as the odds it turn into a higher CP is higher. Just make sure the other player do the same then you may have higher chance to get Lucky Pokemon as that will only happen when both trading are in "Wonder" Class.

Trading regularly would not only increase friendship level that translate to using lesser stardust (trading price to pay is cheaper) but also you need to build that friendship level to trade higher class Pokemon like legendary Raid Pokemon or Shiny Pokemon.

Remember the Distance matter
When you are trading with another player remember the distant must be within 100 meter of each other and also the distance of the origination of both Pokemon to calculate the amount of Candies you both will get.

In my personal experience, always have some keep some high CP Pokemon with you for trade with any players as you do not know when and where you may meet your Pokemon friend to trade should he have some Pokemon you did not have.

In short, be Generous. It would not cost you any real money but you never know when someone would return a favor by giving you a Pokemon you never had a chance to meet before.

Hope you get your trading partners soon!

Beginner Tips for Ghostbusters World

After playing for a week, here are some tips I got for those who are starting out on this game.

1. Upgrades your gears
The most important thing you need to do with the time and coins you have is to diligently upgrade your gears. You will experience easier catch when you level up your gears. You need to develop the time and habit to do so as most of the time you will forget as you busy catching or battling Ghost.

2. Virtual Pad / Tilt Mode
When the start of the game, it was default to Tilt mode where you must face your mobile in position where the Ghost are. After I discover there is a Virtual pad, it is more easy to play when you are moving about. However Virtual pad will use up your clip more when you are fighting the boss as it sense you are shooting and not aiming most of the time. Thankfully you can switch the mode and pause the game during the selection in the catching mode.

3. Trap or Destabilized
Not all ghost are powerful. They are label as default Rank given from the moment you caught them. Starting from the lowest class of D to Class S as Legendary.  If you Trap them, you have a chance to see which Class they are. Destabilize them does not give you any chance to see the Class at all.

If you destabilized 5 of the same kind, you can combine them to form a Ghost. Again the Ghost class would be random as well. So it does not really pay off to destabilize 5 ghost to combine to 1 Ghost for that.

So why Destabilized them? The only reason is to save time and trap.

It was said that when the shard can combine to the same kind of Ghost as well but I have not seen that option yet. Maybe because my ghosts rank are still reached it the max.

4. Level Up and Rank Up
Increasing level of ghost can be done by sending them to win battles or pump in PKE crystal and level them up. The Growth will come to halt when you hit a cap and you have to then increase your Rank up.

One real obstacle are the lack of  Slime Shard (which you have to destabilized / Delete a high rank ghost) and also the Element Shard which you get by sending your team to "Daily Haunt". Element Shard you can go garnering with a given time or day. But meeting the Rank Ghost to get the Slime Shard is a real challenge of luck.

5. Forming a Dream Team
Study your ghost skill and stats and form a team that can take down the rival team in battle. Don't rush in and waste your time and opportunity. Some element are strong against another while some could be weak. Example Fire is weak against Water. Look at your opponents and plan your team. Some Ghost have some skill too which may random your powerful ghost out of your control like Stun and healing. So that does not mean the higher your level you will have a confirm victory.

Take the time to know your Ghost and select and level up your ghosts.

Good luck and I will share more in time to come! IF you have question, comment below!

You can follow me at facebook page as I will update game experience there too!

Ghostbusters World Day 1 Review

I downloaded the new Ghostbusters World on my Android device and being playing it for 1 whole day. So here is my Day 1 experience and review.

Ghostbusters world is like Pokemon Go?
When I first read about the game description and the screenshot of the game, I am given an impression this is very similar like PokemonGo but it turn out to be rather different.
Is different a good thing?

Well I guess it depend if you l Ghostbusters World is not really for a game on the Go.
Compare to PokemonGo where Pokemon appear and when you tab on the Pokemon, you will go in to catch mode almost instantly without much loading time. All you need to do is to feed berry or just aim and throw your Pokeball. Within 15 seconds or less you would have caught a Pokemon.

While there are numerous encounter of Ghost in Ghostbusters World, getting one would take up close to 1 minutes to 4 minutes of your time.
  1. There is a time limit during your catch mode.
  2. You must move your phone to aim to blast your beam to weaken the Ghost while it do the peek-a-boo with you. You will certainly give the people around you the impression that you are taking photo with your handphone when you play the game. (There is no other option I know for now how to play without moving the phone around).
  3. Some Ghost are more difficult that you have to upgrade your weapons to cut short the time to catch them to reach the timer.
  4. The Ghost will attack you and you have to be fast in avoiding it's attack. Every hit will minus your HP and when your HP is done, you are out of the catching mode.
  5. Every catch would need a trap and although you can make your trap (take time and used of free game coins) or spin on the dimension door (like Pokestop), it is very likely if you catch regularly you still would be lack of traps.
Ghost or Monsters?
In the game, there are quite a variety of Ghosts in the game. Some are from different culture which is interesting.

Here is an example of the catch mode which I am catching a Chinese Ghost (actually more to be Zombie in Chinese History) which is quite good.

While the variety of Ghosts is good, some of them are more like Monsters than classic Ghosts.

PVP and Story Mission
The reason you catch ghost is to train them to take on other ghost. That give you reason to power up your Ghost but it is not for free. Any rise in Ranking would require some items which you get by giving up some Ghosts or getting reward from.

You can also choose not to play those mode as you can go about catching

There are also Raid like PokemonGo for Ghostbusters World but I have not encounter one for my day 1 as I am hardly near one. Will give my thoughts on that when I tried that.

That's my review for now. Will update more when more interesting happen.

Tips for Pokémon Go Research to catch Mew

Pokémon Go had a new update and it give more meaning for the game play and it is called Research.

Research is divided to 2 parts. Field and Special.

Field Research
You have 3 slots for field research that gave you individual reward upon complete of the task. You begin by spinning a Pokéstop.

Do note that the same Pokéstop at a given time would give you the same task. Some of this task are reasonable easy and the reward would be according to the afford.

Some reward are by items and some a chance to catch some rare Pokémon. We discover that the Pokémon caught in the reward are more higher stats than egg hatching ones.

If you deem the task is too hard or the reward is not really what you need, you can delete that task anytime by clicking the "Bin" icon on the right. That give player a choice to see if they have time for that.

There is no time limit to the task. Just make sure you claim your reward and clear the slot for new task.

By the number of field research you do, you will get medal for that.

Special Research
This is a research to catch Mew which is 100% catch. However the requirement would not be easy.

There are total 8 tier (actually 7 as Mew catching is a reward) and it has no time limit.

Make sure you claim your reward so it can go to next tier. Even your bag are full, you can still claim the reward.

Tier 1: Spin 5 Pokéstops, Catch 10 Pokémon, Transfer 5 Pokémon
This is simple as most player do everyday

Tier 2: Farm 2 candies walking with your Buddy, Make 10 great throws, Hatch 3 Eggs
Just make sure you choose Pokémon that generate candy for 1KM and that would be easy. Hatching egg would be faster if you choose more egg hatcher and 2KM eggs.

Tier 3: Reach Level 15, Battle in a Gym 2 times, Battle in 2 Raids
If you are above level 15 it is a given straight to you. For Gym battle just go fight 2 pokemon in gym will do. For the raid use your yesterday and today raid pass will do.

Tier 4: Earn a Silver Kanto Medal, Evolve 20 Pokémon, Earn 5 Candies walking with your Buddy
If you are season player, Kanto medal should be no issue. Just make sure you have enough candies to evolve pokemon that is common and use less candies requirement.

Tier 5: Catch Ditto, Make 20 Great throws, Catch 10 Ghost Pokémon
This could be the most difficult tier among the rest as Ditto and Ghost Pokemon are really by luck encounter unless you know the NEST. So this may take sometime. Great throw defer from people who know how and those who try using luck.

Tier 6: Reach Level 25, Battle in 10 Raids, Evolve a Magikarp
Reaching level 25 is not difficult the only issue would be having 400 candies for evolving Magikarp. Raid battle would take less than 10 days.

Tier 7: Catch 50 Pokémon using a Berry, Make one excellent curve throw, Earn a Gold Kanto Medal
Make sure you have 50 berries of any kind will do as that is easy among the 3. Having Kanto medal would be rather easy but the most challenging is getting excellent curve throw. Pray and practice you may get one.

Tier 8: Catch Mew
100% catch rate so it is reward for you :)

So that's all for now. More tips later.

Now go and catch some Pokémon

9 Facts on Feeding Berries in Pokémon GO Gym

In the recent update, beside fighting Gym, you get a chance to feed berries to your Team Pokemon.
Here are some facts you may want to know about feeding Gym Pokemon.

1. You can only feed Pokemon of your same team in Gym.

2. Feeding Pokemon will restore CP (heart meter) of the Pokemon to make it last longer if there are being attack.

3. When you feed a Pokemon, you will get Stardust and sometime Candies of that Pokemon you feed. So if you need more Dragonite's candy, start feeding Dragonite of your same team in Gym.

4. When Pokemon heart is meter is full, you still can feed it. Normally 10 times but not more.

5. If you repeat feeding the same Pokemon, the rate of restoration will be lower each time.

6. Gold berries are the wonder berries which most of the time totally restore the heart meter of the Pokemon.

7. The newly added remote feeding. As this remote feeding will always be lesser effect of the berries compare to being there to feed it. Nonetheless this could still help you to stay in the gym for sometime for some players.

8. Remote feeding are always lower restoration than feeding there yourself

9. If you are doing remote feeding, keep an eye on the status of your Pokemon as there are rarely notification to alert you.

With this configuration, does that mean I can feed 1 berry to all? LOL *Joking

If you have more facts that you discover, share it in our comments!

LEGO LIFE App is Out!

LEGO Launches LEGO® Life, a Safe Social Network for Kids Under 13, in Singapore and Malaysia.

– LEGO Life extends play through an evolving community of inspiration that adheres to the highest standards for child safety online

– New LEGO Emoji Keyboard and themed feeds innovate on the best of today’s social network features to allow kids and tweens to share and communicate with thousands of other LEGO fans

Building on its experience with nurturing communities and extending its expertise in developing quality, child-friendly digital play experiences, The LEGO Group today announces the Singapore and Malaysia launch of LEGO® Life, a safe social network for kids under the age of 13.

The app-centered digital experience allows young LEGO builders of all levels and interests to connect with a community of like-minded peers to express their creativity, share their LEGO creations, interact with LEGO characters, and inspire one another.

“The LEGO Group aims to develop digital experiences that complement and enhance LEGO play,” said Rob Lowe, head of LEGO Life. “LEGO Life creates a platform that amplifies the joy of building and pride of creation that kids experience with tactile play through the digital world in a safe way – further unleashing creativity among kids and tweens on a much broader scale.”

LEGO® Life Increases the Sociability and Personalisation of LEGO Play LEGO Life bridges physical and digital play experiences, innovating on the best of today’s social network features to add a social layer to LEGO play. After seeing millions of kids share their pride of creation in the “Cool Creations” section of LEGO Club Magazine and use LEGO.com message boards to share stories and photos about LEGO building, a richer, more dynamic social media platform such as LEGO Life is a natural next step in the evolution of LEGO community engagement.

“LEGO Life provides the platform where kids and tweens can take their LEGO creations and stories and give them the audience they deserve,” added Lowe.

The LEGO Life app lets kids personalise their LEGO experience through direct interaction with their favorite LEGO characters, exclusive content, an in-depth 3D LEGO minifigure avatar creator, and fun building inspiration and challenges. LEGO Life also introduces a custom LEGO Emoji Keyboard with which kids and tweens can communicate about what they create in LEGO form, as well as comment on what their peers share.

“LEGO bricks are already established as a global visual language that kids understand and use to express themselves,” explained Lowe. “The LEGO Emoji Keyboard takes this personalisation one step further with a keyboard of recognisable emojis augmented by stickers and phrases that let kids engage safely within LEGO Life.”

According to global research that informed the development of LEGO Life, 90 percent of kids surveyed are aware of emojis and their use in communication. When asked if they use emoji icons, approximately 40 percent of kids said “yes.” By infusing a LEGO look and feel into familiar emoji vernacular, the LEGO Emoji Keyboard helps kids and tweens inspire and support each other even though their spelling and typing skills may be still developing.

LEGO® Life is a Constantly Growing Source of Inspiration

Similar to mainstream social media platforms, LEGO Life delivers a newsfeed customised to user preferences. The app encourages kids and tweens to identify and “follow” topics of interest so that their feed is populated with relevant images, challenges and more. For example, kids can choose to follow groups dedicated to certain animals, vehicles, heroes, specific LEGO themes, seasonal programs or regional topics that they find most relevant.

Additionally, LEGO Life provides kids and tweens with inspiration and mentorship in fun and engaging ways. LEGO Master Builders will share creations and issue a variety of building challenges within LEGO Life to encourage building and sharing among the community. Characters such as Master Wu from LEGO NINJAGO, Emma from LEGO Friends and LEGO BATMAN™ will share building inspiration and will appear within the app to comment on member builds. New features will be continually added to the experience.

As the network grows and expands, users will find other ways to customise their LEGO experience, such as earning rewards for their engagement in LEGO activities and the ability to inventory their LEGO collection, among many other things. LEGO Life will also be available through many other LEGO touchpoints to enable as many LEGO fans as possible to experience its potential.

LEGO® Life is Safe and Secure

LEGO Life is a safe social network for kids under 13. It is designed to be a child’s first digital social experience, taking users by the hand and introducing them to some of the core concepts of a social network, all through the trusted values associated with the LEGO brand. As detailed in the Digital Safety section of LEGO Life, participants’ safety is assured in several ways.

No Personal Information

LEGO Life prevents kids from sharing personal information, images, or anything that could allow users to identify and locate one another. For example, when a user creates an account, he or she uses the random name generator to create a silly 3-word mix for a display name, such as “DukeCharmingShrimp” or “ChairmanWilyDolphin.” In place of real or facial photos for LEGO Life profiles, users create their avatar by selecting the LEGO minifigure or minidoll of their choice, adding clothing, hair and more to create their virtual persona.

Moderated Content

All content and comments on LEGO Life are monitored by LEGO employees who specialize in moderation to ensure that it is LEGO Life-appropriate and child-friendly. All moderators go through brand and child safety training, and the moderation team is located in LEGO offices around the world to ensure quality, always-on service. Use of the LEGO Emoji Keyboard replaces actual text when commenting on user-generated content. Commenting is tightly controlled and pre-moderated while emoji comments are post-moderated, keeping communication simple, universal, positive and fun.

Adherence to the LEGO Safety Pledge and UNICEF Standards

The LEGO safety pledge is a method for parents to talk to their children about digital safety while establishing a shared commitment to ground rules for online social behavior, and LEGO Life policies and procedures adhere to these ground rules. Additionally, LEGO Group has an ongoing partnership with UNICEF through which the company received guidance as to how to ensure child safety in developing LEGO Life. UNICEF and LEGO Group also partnered to develop a tool which enables companies to assess their current efforts around children’s digital safety.

LEGO Life may be downloaded for free Now in the App Store for iOS devices and at Google Play for Android devices

Magikarp Jump

The Pokemon company had just roll out a new game called Magikarp Jump. Basically it take on a easy minded game to just raise a Pokemon to win some league.
Unlike other Pokemon game, you need to take on contest (not battle) with other Magikarp trainer.

How to raise your Magikarp?  You need to feed them, Train them and take them to win the different League.

Now there is not much "interaction" during training and jumping. The game program will run by itself and give you the result. The only interaction count is when you are feeding the Magikarp in your pond.

There will be number of decoration given as you go further and you can upgrade your food, decoration and other Pokemon friends to give you some bonus.

Once you reached the Magikarp Max level, you can only go as far the League goes until you lost and your Magikarp will go into retirement.

Then a new round will start when you go and fish another Magikarp to get some rare ones and start the training again.

There are total of 7 different Magikarp to see which one will you strike.

I do not see any evolution of Magikarp tho.

However the game is entertaining as it is simple. Basically with the cute animation and simple game that is for all ages, it would certainly be another entertainment pass time when you are bored.

Give it a try, this game would get you playing for sometime.

Pokémon Go Daily Bonuses with More Bonuses!

Niantic announced that there will be more Daily bonuses and more Pokemon spawning!

The daily bonuses reward you with XP.

Stardust for your first catch of the day so you may want to choose which Pokémon you are catching for the first time.

There will be XP and extra items for your first PokéStop spin. This will add on if you did that seven days in a row!

Don't get too excited yet as this is just only for a limited point of time (7th to 11th November 2016 only).

Why only that few days? I am not sure but maybe it have to do with keeping the players to play more daily as they did increase sales during the Halloween period and they now understood the important to keep the game easy and friendly.
Throw in more new Pokémon and do not frustrate players waiting for Lapras!

24 October 2016

Pokémon Go Halloween Special

From 26th October 1st November 2016, Pokémon players will get some extra treats during this Halloween period

First during this period there will be more spawning rate of the following Pokémon
Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Zubat, GolBat, Drowzee and Hypno!

Update: Meowth, Cubone and Marowak seems to be appearing often too

All Pokémon catch will be rewarded double the number of candies and when you transfer your Pokémon to professor you will get 2 candies rather than the usual 1.

For the buddy system that walk, you will get 4 candies instead of 1!
These only happen during the Halloween period. So walk and catch Pokémon more!

Need more candies!!

12 September 2016

Pokémon Go Buddy System

Here is a preview of the Buddy system in Pokémon Go where everyone hear so much about.

That mean you can choose 1 walking buddy with you as you walk along (although it will be appear with you on the map as you walk) and you will earn some candy of the Pokémon that you choose walking with you.

You can choose your buddy in your own screen under Buddy (this is only in the latest update version).

Depending on the type of Pokémon, it will award you the candy on a certain destance. For Pikachu it was 1 candy for every 1Km. This would be great for those to hardly find Pikachu anywhere.

However if you are looking for Charmander to walk with you it would be 3Km for a candy. Choosing any of it's evolve kind will not affect the number of candy that you get tho. So if you have a Charmeleon or Charizard it would still be 3Km walk.

If you have a buddy, you will see it's icon beside you and the blue circle indicate the percentage to it's full candy reward.

This update do give players some edge as now instead of catching which very much depend if you actually see the Pokémon in the game, you can now just catch 1 and start to earn candy for yourself which can take more time. But hey it is better than not knowing where to find them or not right?

Are you ready for Pokemon Go Plus?

If you are into Pokemon Go, you may want to take note that there is a compatible device that would help you in some way to play the game more easily.

Just yesterday Nintendo had announce the sales of Pokemon Go Plus by end of next week (16th of September) in selected countries. So far it is in US, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. This device would pair as a bluetooth device with the smart phone that is running the Pokemon Go.

This would vibrate when a Pokemon appear near you and pressing on it would help you randomly to catch the Pokemon selected.

It also help you to be easier to check in to Pokestop by pressing the button.

One thing it did state that without the app to be active, the distance that your app is sleeping would not take into your account of walking distance that uses to hatch egg. As this is still new, many things are still not confirm how it will be use and whether is it really that friendly to the user.

This device would be priced at 3,500 yen.

More on that news on this once user use this device next week.

Turn your Android to Gameboy

Ever since the E3 this year, Hyperkin design of changing Android smart phone to Gameboy seems to create much buzz.

While you may think these maybe just another smartphone that run gameboy emulator app, this actually runs the original Nintendo Game Boy cartridges. With the use of USB connection, the smartphone will be more like a monitor display of the game while the control are on the tactile buttons.
>

The case is designed to fit Android phones measuring 4-5 inches but the thickness of the smartphone would somehow play a part in how well it will be fitted. The Android device must be 4.4 and above.

This is schedule to release in 1st December 2016 with a retail price of US$60.

On the side note, going back to the original Gameboy was running 4 x AA batteries and it was estimated to have 35 hours of playing while the Gameboy color run on 2 AA batteries that can last up to 10 hours in colors.

The question you have to ask is how long while your smartphone battery last using this device while you are playing it?

As cool or nostalgic it sound, end of the day the game will still run in 8 bit with it speed but the consumption of power on the smart phone do not mean it will last longer due to the screen. Some more you are using half of the screen may not mean you use lesser power as well.

That remind me the time when I use my home PC in the 1990s to run the gameboy emulator to play gameboy game. Guess how much power I have consume to play this 8 bit game with a 17" CRT monitor?

Well that's my 2 cents. :)

Supercell bought over by Tencent

News just out that the game company Supercell Oy was evaluated at $10.2 billion  by one of the world largest internet company Tencent Holdings Limited.

Who is Supercell?
If you are in Mobile gaming world regardless Android or iPhone, you would have seen some of these game being played by someone on their mobile device daily. There are Clash of the Clans, Clash Royale, Hay day and Beach Bomb.

In the gaming industry, it is difficult to follow up another hit from a hit game like Clash of the Clans but they manage to make another sub game which is picking up called Clash Royale. That itself is quite amazing.

Personally I have played two of these titles and a friend of mine actually pay money for some in game purchase. Constantly I have seen players on their mobile devices playing this game. That it's said something about the game company.

Who is Tencent Holdings Limited?
Tencent Holdings Limited is from China and owner of Tencent QQ app and the largest web portal QQ.com. On top of that, they also owned WeChat.

Tencent plan was to bring the game into China community and you can imagine the buzz of that.

Pokémon GO so far

The news on the real world location base of exploring the virtual location for Pokémon, Pokémon GO has been announced for close to a year now and we are still awaiting for it.

Unlike previously the Pokémon game was exclusive to Nintendo devices, these game would be cater for iPhone and Android devices.

Built on Niantic’s Real World Gaming Platform, Pokémon GO uses real locations to get players to search for Pokémon in the real world. There are over hundred different Pokémon as they explore their surroundings. However the location of such game currently are limited to Hokkaido and Kanto city of Japan, New York, and Paris... That would mean for gamers who want to have such game may need to travel there. Plus the apps maybe limited to certain region...

The game do offer customization of the player persona and the Pokémon are design to be on the overlay over a real world background.

On top of that, there will be another device that serve as an add on Pokémon GO Plus which enable players to enjoy the game even while they’re not looking at their smartphones. Connected to host device via Bluetooth, it will notifies the player about events such as appearance of a Pokémon with LED and vibration. Player can use pressing the button on the device to capture the Pokémon too.

It is worth mentioning the game is FREE (except the device you have to pay for it).

Players can have 2 choices to wait for the game to release on their region or travel to the location to play the game. The choice so far is up to you.

Stay tune for more Pokémon GO when we learn more on this game here!
