Pokémon Go Daily Bonuses with More Bonuses!

Niantic announced that there will be more Daily bonuses and more Pokemon spawning!


The daily bonuses reward you with XP.

Stardust for your first catch of the day so you may want to choose which Pokémon you are catching for the first time.

There will be XP and extra items for your first PokéStop spin. This will add on if you did that seven days in a row!

Don't get too excited yet as this is just only for a limited point of time (7th to 11th November 2016 only).


Why only that few days? I am not sure but maybe it have to do with keeping the players to play more daily as they did increase sales during the Halloween period and they now understood the important to keep the game easy and friendly.
Throw in more new Pokémon and do not frustrate players waiting for Lapras!

Pokémon Go Halloween Special

From 26th October 1st November 2016, Pokémon players will get some extra treats during this Halloween period


First during this period there will be more spawning rate of the following Pokémon
Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Zubat, GolBat, Drowzee and Hypno!

Update: Meowth, Cubone and Marowak seems to be appearing often too

All Pokémon catch will be rewarded double the number of candies and when you transfer your Pokémon to professor you will get 2 candies rather than the usual 1.

For the buddy system that walk, you will get 4 candies instead of 1!
These only happen during the Halloween period. So walk and catch Pokémon more!

Nintendo Switch has been annouced

Yesterday Nintendo and get console lover excited with their new announcement of their next generation console releasing in March 2017, Nintendo Switch!


Here is a video of the device and something that strike me.
First is the graphic was amazing as it is showing the new Zelda game that would release on the first day of the release of the console. The movement and the coloring was striking.

This is a portable console as base that allow you to carry it everywhere you go or play at home by switching the controller.

While at home you can dock it and play on your TV with another wireless controller. I assuming that is also the charging function when you docked to play game.


Even when you bring out to play, you have the option to play like the classic 3DS with screen and controller together or for the first time you can keep the 6" screen to a comfortable spot while you sit down to play the game wirelessly.


The two side controller can be shared for 2 players to play Mario Kart.

As of today, there is not much news on specs and games but this certainly get me excited. All you need is a good games and this will certainly be a boom!

Sonic Mania: Collector's Edition Coming

If you are have ever played SEGA game console, you would know Sonic being the icon of that game console and era.

So ahead of time, SEGA will be releasing the classic game on 3 different console. Here is the look of Playstation 4


It would come with a 12" statue of Sonic standing on SEGA Genesis console (not the real console but it do have sound from it).


A metallic collector card will give you the code to redeem the game from PSN. There's also a gold ring on a classic cartridges.


The item however will release in 31 May 2017 tho.
This collector box set is avaliable on PS4, XboxOne and PC.

Pokémon Go Buddy System

Here is a preview of the Buddy system in Pokémon Go where everyone hear so much about.

That mean you can choose 1 walking buddy with you as you walk along (although it will be appear with you on the map as you walk) and you will earn some candy of the Pokémon that you choose walking with you.


You can choose your buddy in your own screen under Buddy (this is only in the latest update version).


Depending on the type of Pokémon, it will award you the candy on a certain destance. For Pikachu it was 1 candy for every 1Km. This would be great for those to hardly find Pikachu anywhere.

However if you are looking for Charmander to walk with you it would be 3Km for a candy. Choosing any of it's evolve kind will not affect the number of candy that you get tho. So if you have a Charmeleon or Charizard it would still be 3Km walk.

If you have a buddy, you will see it's icon beside you and the blue circle indicate the percentage to it's full candy reward.


This update do give players some edge as now instead of catching which very much depend if you actually see the Pokémon in the game, you can now just catch 1 and start to earn candy for yourself which can take more time. But hey it is better than not knowing where to find them or not right?

Are you ready for Pokemon Go Plus?

If you are into Pokemon Go, you may want to take note that there is a compatible device that would help you in some way to play the game more easily.

Just yesterday Nintendo had announce the sales of Pokemon Go Plus by end of next week (16th of September) in selected countries. So far it is in US, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. This device would pair as a bluetooth device with the smart phone that is running the Pokemon Go.


 This would vibrate when a Pokemon appear near you and pressing on it would help you randomly to catch the Pokemon selected.

 It also help you to be easier to check in to Pokestop by pressing the button.


One thing it did state that without the app to be active, the distance that your app is sleeping would not take into your account of walking distance that uses to hatch egg. As this is still new, many things are still not confirm how it will be use and whether is it really that friendly to the user.

This device would be priced at 3,500 yen.

Starhub users having issue with Pokémon Go ?

Since around 3PM today Singapore time on 10 August 2016, some Starhub users are having issue with their Pokémon Go.

* No Poké stop or Pokémon in sight!

This issue is still unsolved nor was it being addressed at 8:45pm Singapore time.

UPDATED: This issue seems to resolved around 11pm the same day.

Basic of Pokémon Go: Do I have to catch them all?

When this question was asked, many would think "catching them all" would be catch one of each type correct? Well actually the answer is No in Pokémon Go.

The correct answer to is to catch every Pokémon you see in the game regardless of type, color or abilities. Why?

If you are a season player of Pokémon Go you would know one of the often element in Pokémon game was kinda missing regularly and that is Pokémon Battle. In normal Pokémon game, Pokémon gain experience by facing off other Pokémon (even in Pokémon Shuffles). So how do your Pokémon in Pokémon Go grow and eventually hopefully evolved?

The answer is catching them all!

You need to look into the status of your Pokémon and in this case it is a Caterpie. When you catch any Pokémon you will be awarded some amount of Stardust and also their unique candy. For this case I was award 100 Stardust and 3 Caterpie Candies.


When you look into the status of the Caterpie, you will notice that I have 3500 Stardust and 9 Caterpie candy (including the 100 stardust and 3 caterpie candies previously add).


Next you will notice also there are certain pricing for Power up which need 200 stardust and 1 Caterpie candy while Evolve would need 12 Caterpie candies.

Now stardust is something that will be award in every Pokémon you catch but the unique candy are only found in catching those same kind of Pokémon (in this case is Caterpie).

So if I want to evolve this Caterpie, I have to catch more Caterpie to get more of the Caterpie candies to spent it on evolve it.

Now another way to get the Candies would be to "Transfer" the same type of Pokémon to professor and in return he will give you 1 same type of candy you have transfer to him. Make sure you only transfer the weaker Pokémon you do not want of the same type.

*I transfered to professor a Pinsir so I get a Pinsir candy

From then on, all you need to do is to focus on the Pokémon you want to level up and evolve. That is why you have to catch them all to do that.

Pokémon Go - Catching Gastly

Basic of Pokémon Go: Egg Hatching

One of the items that awarded to you from Poké stop would be Egg. Now many will not really know what to do with this Egg and though it will hatch by itself but it will not unless you put them into an incubator. So let's talk about Egg.


In the beginning, you will have a incubator that has infinity usage. This incubator works more on the distance you travel from your devices. Generally there are 3 eggs categories. 2Km, 5Km and 10Km.
Here is a chart of the possible Pokémon that will hatched for the egg.


Now the distance on each of the Egg only count when the Egg is in the incubator. The distance then start to measure when your App is on with your GPS and it uses the changing of your GPS location to calculate. That mean you must keep your App on to do that. It is most effective if you walk in a straight line according to the App map (but look at where you are walking physically).

If you are thinking that by hopping into a moving vehicle count, it will not because it will calculate the speed and as long it is moving above a certain speed, it will not take into consideration.

Do note that walking in circles of small area may not count either. You may choose to use the paid incubator for 10KM while you use the FREE incubator for the 2KM or 5KM so at the same distance you travel, it will hatch more.

Do note the paid one cost 150 Poke coins for now and limited to 3 usage. You will however get only 1 FREE in the game.


Therefore it is important to set a time like you are walking to a certain location to use that time to run the App to clock in the time.

Now the question you may want to ask yourself is it worth it to hatch a Egg then as some  Pokémon  you may get it when you are traveling and you have no control which Pokémon  is in the Egg too.

My recommendation is just put one Egg into the Free incubator and let it run it causes and see what you get since you are clocking the hours anyway.

Basic of Pokémon Go: Poké Stop

Singapore woke up with a big surprise that suddenly Pokémon GO was released in Singapore officially! Immediately Singapore authorized issued "Advise" to Singapore players to take note of certain things when playing. If you are interested to read that you can click here.

Now what important for new players in Singapore is to know some basic of how Pokémon Go works and this will be a series I am going to share what I have learned for the new players.


The beginning of the game you will start out with 3 starter Pokémon for you to choose from. You can only choose 1. Now what you choose from here for Pokemon Go is not important. Why? because you ain't going to do any battle till you are level 5. So from Level 1 to 5 and even onward, you should spend your time to catch Pokémon and get Pokéballs.

First thing first when you start your game is to note down where are the poke stop near you. Assuming you start from your home, you need to know where are the poke stop as most of the time you will be at home. If you are lucky, some poke stop are just a few steps away from your home which mean every 5 minutes you can check in and get your supplies.

And in the worst case scenario....


If any poke stop are in your radius you would see the cube marker in blue become a 2D circle. All you need to do is to click on that and you would see the photo of that landmark. Make sure there isn't any message saying it is too far away from you (see the photo below).

*Note regarding the Lure in the picture I will explain more on the topic on another post

If you are near and do not have the message, you just need to swipe the photo from left to right and it will spin dropping items in the bubbles. All you need to do is to pop the bubbles and the items will be placed in your item bag in your game.

For beginners, try to get more Pokéball as you need them to catch all the Pokémon! There will be other items that drop such as crystals, potion and also egg. That lead me to the next topic Egg which I will share on the next post.

Meanwhile checked in as many Poké stop regularly and get more items as possible!

Turn your Android to Gameboy

Ever since the E3 this year, Hyperkin design of changing Android smart phone to Gameboy seems to create much buzz.

While you may think these maybe just another smartphone that run gameboy emulator app, this actually runs the original Nintendo Game Boy cartridges. With the use of USB connection, the smartphone will be more like a monitor display of the game while the control are on the tactile buttons.

The case is designed to fit Android phones measuring 4-5 inches but the thickness of the smartphone would somehow play a part in how well it will be fitted. The Android device must be 4.4 and above.



This is schedule to release in 1st December 2016 with a retail price of US$60.

On the side note, going back to the original Gameboy was running 4 x AA batteries and it was estimated to have 35 hours of playing while the Gameboy color run on 2 AA batteries that can last up to 10 hours in colors.


The question you have to ask is how long while your smartphone battery last using this device while you are playing it?

As cool or nostalgic it sound, end of the day the game will still run in 8 bit with it speed but the consumption of power on the smart phone do not mean it will last longer due to the screen. Some more you are using half of the screen may not mean you use lesser power as well.

That remind me the time when I use my home PC in the 1990s to run the gameboy emulator to play gameboy game. Guess how much power I have consume to play this 8 bit game with a 17" CRT monitor?

Well that's my 2 cents. :)

Supercell bought over by Tencent

News just out that the game company Supercell Oy was evaluated at $10.2 billion  by one of the world largest internet company Tencent Holdings Limited.

Who is Supercell?
If you are in Mobile gaming world regardless Android or iPhone, you would have seen some of these game being played by someone on their mobile device daily. There are Clash of the Clans, Clash Royale, Hay day and Beach Bomb.


In the gaming industry, it is difficult to follow up another hit from a hit game like Clash of the Clans but they manage to make another sub game which is picking up called Clash Royale. That itself is quite amazing.

Personally I have played two of these titles and a friend of mine actually pay money for some in game purchase. Constantly I have seen players on their mobile devices playing this game. That it's said something about the game company.

Who is Tencent Holdings Limited?
Tencent Holdings Limited is from China and owner of Tencent QQ app and the largest web portal QQ.com. On top of that, they also owned WeChat.

Tencent plan was to bring the game into China community and you can imagine the buzz of that.

5 things you need to know before getting on PlayStation VR

It has been announced this week that PlayStation VR will be releasing on October 13, 2016 for USD$399.

 Before you get all excited, here are the list of things you need to know.


1. Playstation VR do not work alone, which mean you need to have first a PlayStation (not mentioning with the new Neo 4K version or the regular one so far) together with a Playstation Camera. This Camera are currently not included with the Playstation VR at the moment so if you really into investing on VR, get a camera first.

2. Some games also require a set of PlayStation Move controllers and currently that is also not included with the Playstation VR.

3. There will be only one free game that comes with the Playstation VR and it is The Playroom .

4. It was communicated that there are 50 games that is just for VR in development which include Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience and Resident Evil VII.

5. Playstation VR will come with a processing box, power cable, earphones, dual HDMI connector that links the headset to the PS4, an HDMI cable, a micro USB cable and finally a headset, This would mean players should still expect to have some wire on you.

So far this is what was given for news but as a gamer, would you want to pay more for the VR experience? A regular PS4 console cost about USD$350, now another add on parts is at USD$399. That's quite a lot for investment for a regular gamer. Well I guess we have to wait and see when the product is out and how the people on the actual ground response.

PS4 Spider-Man Coming

Ever since the new Spider-Man preview on Captain America Civil war, many are anticipating more of the new Spider-Man.


Since Sony owned the licensing of Spider-Man currently, it is not surprising Sony is going to make a game out of it.

Here is the Teaser of the new Spider-Man game that he comes with a new suit.

The Teaser seems to show some gameplay but much of it seems like cut scene and so I cannot do much conclusion. Not too sure if the graphic are the Neo version (4K) or the suit is it going to be the same in the coming Spider-Man.

From what was spoken with the video, it is the same character in the Spidey from Civil wars as he is from Queens.


Well we certain keep an eye on this release to see if the graphic and gameplay is really that fluid.

The Tomorrow Children Beta Experience on PS4

Just over the last weekend, PSN actually release Beta for The Tomorrow Children. Initially I have no ideal what type of game it is but I try it out anyway because of curiosity.

So here's my short review of my Beta experience

Pokémon GO so far

The news on the real world location base of exploring the virtual location for Pokémon, Pokémon GO has been announced for close to a year now and we are still awaiting for it.


Unlike previously the Pokémon game was exclusive to Nintendo devices, these game would be cater for iPhone and Android devices.

Built on Niantic’s Real World Gaming Platform, Pokémon GO uses real locations to get players to search for Pokémon in the real world. There are over hundred different Pokémon as they explore their surroundings. However the location of such game currently are limited to Hokkaido and Kanto city of Japan, New York, and Paris... That would mean for gamers who want to have such game may need to travel there. Plus the apps maybe limited to certain region...


The game do offer customization of the player persona and the Pokémon are design to be on the overlay over a real world background.


On top of that, there will be another device that serve as an add on Pokémon GO Plus which enable players to enjoy the game even while they’re not looking at their smartphones. Connected to host device via Bluetooth, it will notifies the player about events such as appearance of a Pokémon with LED and vibration. Player can use pressing the button on the device to capture the Pokémon too.


It is worth mentioning the game is FREE (except the device you have to pay for it).

Players can have 2 choices to wait for the game to release on their region or travel to the location to play the game. The choice so far is up to you.

I Am Setsuna

When you think about SquareEnix, you will remember those turn base action such as the earlier days of the Final Fantasy series. So after so much of SquareEnix of the last Final Fantasy release which was not that popular (in my opinion), it look like they going back to the turn base series with graphic that like left off back in year 2000.


Well if the story is good, I as a gamer are not complaining. After all good story, characters and simple game play would be good in my book.

Here is the trailer of the game and it really bring back the top view movement of characters with some 2D drawing effects.



The Japanese version was already release in February this year but the English version is releasing on 19th July 2016 on Playstation 4, Playstation Vista and Steam.

Batman Return to Arkham coming

One or should I say two of the best Batman game Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City is releasing as a remaster release on PS4 abd Xbox One on 26th of July 2016.


This 2 in 1 remaster was a Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment offering as a update on current console generation.

The games has been updated to Unreal Engine 4 which was said to have improved graphics and lighting effects.

One thing to note that these Re-release will offer the full access to all additional downloadable content as there are both mature game.


Personally I love these series when I played both on PS3 and they are the best in the trilogy series where no batmobile are in as a must player.

So to relive the happier times, it surely is a good proposal to get this to play on PS4 as the PS3 copies cannot play on PS4.

If you are thinking by now the older one somemore may look better, you are not the only one bro. :)

So wait for 26th July if you want to get to play on PS4 of the same game or you have missed out the old series since you play only on PS4 and never get to play the older series (If you are in this group, you should get this and you will understand why Batman game was great).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan

If you are a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans, you will be happy to know there is a new instalment of action RPG TMNT title on Playstation, PC and Xbox console!!


This game is from Activision which also produce the last Transformer Devastation. So you can expect many hack and slash action and power move from the 4 Turtles.

This game has just released in 24th of May which is in line with the new TMNT movie on theatures although this game has not much related to the movie.

You can see familiar faces of Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady. So far only 4 Turtles without much ally tho.

One thing tho if you are a tradtional TMNT game player, you will notice that in the game you can only be a 1 player game. There are not more 2 players mode in the story game which was kind of a let down.

Do you feel the same without 2 player mode?

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is Coming

If you are a Dragonball fan, you will be happy to know Dragon Ball Xenoverse will be releasing a sequel in the later part of this year announced by Bandai Namco.


Regarding the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will be releasing in PS4, Xbox One, and PC platform.

This should be in line with the Anime of Dragonball Super series which having more new characters and story development.

DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 which is currently in development will deliver a new hub city and the most character customization choices to date among a multitude of new features and special upgrades.

Additional details and features pertaining to DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 will be revealed at E3 2016 (June 14-16) in BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc.’s demo theaters, located in rooms 303A&B in the South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Super Robot Wars OG The Moon Dwellers Coming

Super Robot Wars was a long favourite since the Nintendo period. If you must know this year mark the 25th Anniversary of Super Robot Wars and Bandai Namco Entertainment will be rolling a new release in both Japanese and English version.

On the 4th of June 2016, Japan will be releasing the Japanese version. The Japanese version will be in PS4 and PS3 platform.

The English version will be releasing later part of 2016 estimated in Summer but in PS4 version only.

I am certainly looking forward to this release as it has been sometime I play with Super Robot Wars!

Pokémon Sun & Pokémon Moon is Coming

Something exciting is coming to the Pokémon gamer world as we are in the 20th anniversary of the Pokémon francise!

A new series of Pokémon in the Nintendo 3DS game console will be releasing Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.


Both of the cover like all of the Pokémon series display their legendary Pokémon of that version of the game. For Pokémon  is a Lion looking Pokémon named "Solgaleo" and the Pokémon Moon, it is called "Lunaala".

For the starter pack for these two version, player can start to choose a Pokémon for Rowlet (Grass-Flying) which is Owl, Litten (Fire) which is cat looking, and Popplio (Water) which is like a Seadog.

These 2 versions are schedule to release on November 18, 2016. Price has not announced. More of the Pokémon news on this later.
